PitchBook: New IPOs offer a true reflection of late-stage VC valuations
Recent IPO filings by Instacart and Klaviyo suggest increased investment activity in tech, including late-stage funding and secondary trading.
A valuation gap has persisted in the tech sector since the 2022 downturn, with private company valuations in dispute. Upcoming IPOs are expected to provide clarity.
Secondary investors anticipate IPOs will help bridge the valuation gap for venture funds and individual company stakes.
Fewer VC-backed companies are likely to go public in 2023, with a pipeline concentrated in late Q1 and Q2 of the next year.
Employee and investor liquidity are driving IPO considerations, as late-stage companies seek capital infusion in the public markets.
